About the Show The Deeping Show has been a venue since 1945 and is held on the showground in Market Deeping. Each year a small committee co-ordinates a wonderful, traditional and exciting show which includes fatstock, rural crafts, displays with many family entertainments and attractions. The Deeping Show has a variety of attractions from horse and pony events to vintage machinery both moving and static. The main ring has entertainments from brass bands to terrier racing and displays by organisations and teams. The outer rings hold the horse and pony qualifiers with the finals in the main ring. Top class entries in the gymkhana provide a thrilling spectacle and sport. There are trade stands and a shopping mall with many bargains for the shopaholics, whilst the exhibition marquee has the art and produce competition entries. Demonstrations of spinning, basket weaving, painting and upholstery take place as well as sheep shearing. There are cattle, sheep and poultry stalls with competitions in each of these categories.

About The Deepings The Deepings is the collective name given to the towns of Market Deeping and Deeping St James and the two outlying villages of West Deeping and Deeping Gate all bordering the banks of the River Welland as it meanders between Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire. The area known as The Deepings has a long history of habitation going back to prehistoric times. The land is low lying and in the distant past it was frequently covered by the sea as waters rose and receded with each ice age. Through this land flows the River Welland which in ancient times was a tributary of the Rhine when Britain was physically joined to the continent of Europe. |
