The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance is a dedicated medical air service which first began operations in Lincolnshire in April 1994. Based at RAF Waddington, south of Lincoln, and unaffected by road congestion, country roads, heavy vehicles or road works the Helicopter can reach any destination in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in 19 minutes. In the UK there are eighteen dedicated Air Ambulance operations and all are reliant upon charitable support. An Air Ambulance provides an important and sometimes vital additional patient care service for our most critically ill and injured patients. To promote the objects of the Riding for the Disabled Association incorporating carriage driving a charity registered under Charity Number 244108 by providing disabled people the opportunity to ride and/or to carriage drive benefitting their health and well being in the Fenland Cambridgeshire area. |
Caring for people who are living with a life threatening illness across Lincolnshire, The Trust's In-patient Unit is set in a leafy suburb of the cathedral city of Lincoln and provides a "home from home" atmosphere where patients, friends and relatives may relax and enjoy the expert care, warmth and friendship provided by trained staff with support from S R N & R G N nurses and volunteers. Whilst terminal care remains an important part of it's life, many patients visiting the In-patient Unit return home after a successful period of palliative or respite care. The Trust's six-Day Hospices situated in Boston, Gainsborough, Lincoln, Spalding, Skegness and Sutton on Sea provide support and palliative care including a number of interesting pastimes such as art and craft activities. In supporting patients to stay at home during their illness, our Hospice at Home service is provided throughout our operational area and to complement this daytime operation we now include a night sitting service, designed to help carers and families. All services are provided free of charge. Despite receiving local Primary Care Trust monies, the Hospice is required to raise the remaining £2.7 million needed through its fundraising activities and the generosity of the public.
